About the MCS350 system:

Overview

The Dukane MCS350 Series is a multichannel, microprocessor-controlled, programmable administrative communications system that provides a range of audio communications functions. These functions are initiated from any one of up to four Administrative Control Consoles (ACCs) that can be connected to the system. The entire system of ACCs and up to 256 remote stations are controlled by a Dukane Model MCS350 Central Control Unit (CCU). Two-way open voice communications can be initiated from an ACC to any remote speaker station or to another ACC. Paging and program distribution can also be initiated by an ACC to any one station or group of remote stations. The built-in master clock can be programmed to control time tone distribution to any or all remote stations. The master clock can correct selected synchronous clocks or selected digital clocks. The clock has a battery backup to maintain the correct time for seven days after power loss.

The MCS350 has three independent audio communications paths: one program channel and two open-voice intercom channels. All three channels can be active simultaneously, without interruption. The program channel is used for paging, time signaling, and program distribution to multiple remote stations. The two intercom channels allow two simultaneous intercom conversations: one between an ACC and a remote station, the other between two ACCs. Two simultaneous ACC-to-ACC conversations are also possible. Program channel communications need not interrupt remote station intercom use.

The ACC is a desktop unit that initiates and displays all MCS350 functions. The ACC consists of a protective housing, a 31-key, color-coded, spillproof key pad, a 16-character alphanumeric LCD, a built-in microphone and speaker, and a two-way handset. ACC key pad entries are accompanied by both audio and visual feedback. The EMERGENCY, CUSTODIAN, PAGE, PROGRAM, CONSOLE, SYSTEM, and HOLD keys have accompanying LEDs to indicate the function status. The ACC also has speed dial, redial, manual time-tone generation, and program monitoring capabilities.

The ACC also has speed dial, redial, manual time-tone generation, and program monitoring capabilities.

ACC users have program channel access for zone paging to preselected groups of remote stations or for all call paging. Remote stations can be assigned to more than one zone. ACC users can also program the entire system by entering the user-assigned access code. The built-in programmable master clock allows 256 discrete time event entries. Each event is assigned to one, a combination of any five, or all eight time zones; one of eight time schedules; one of eight user-programmable tone types; and any combination of days of the week. The system master clock can be synchronized by an external master clock system. All system programming is stored in non-volatile (EEPROM) memory and is retained in the event of power failure.

The 16-character LCD display keeps the user informed of current ACC status at all times. When no calls are in the system, the display shows the time of day in either 12- or 24-hour format. As calls are received by the ACC, the display shows the two-, three-, or four-digit alphanumeric room number of the calling station as well as the call’s position in that ACC’s call-in queue. Each ACC has its own individual queue for storing incoming calls. These queues are user-programmable so that any room can be programmed to call into any one of the ACCs. All rooms can also be programmed to call into a single ACC. The ACC indicates each call it receives by sounding a call-in tone and updating its queue status display. Calls into an ACC are inserted into the queue first according to their priorities, then in order of arrival. Five call-in priority levels are user-programmable for each remote station: emergency, ACC call-in, high priority, staff, and normal. The system has 100 percent queuing of incoming calls so no calls can be lost. Incoming calls can be scanned using the DISPLAY CALLS key and can be answered in any order desired. An ACC can place a call with calls waiting in its queue. A single queue mode that places all incoming calls into a single common queue can be selected. This allows directing all incoming calls to all ACCs during limited staff operation.

For voice intercom or paging functions, the ACC is equipped with a handset, key pad, speaker, microphone, and a PUSH TO TALK key. The handset is engaged whenever it is in a non-horizontal position. Voice-activated switching (VOX) automatically switches audio direction. When the handset is not active, the direction of communication is controlled by the PUSH TO TALK key. The built-in microphone is active when the PUSH TO TALK key is pressed and the speaker is active when that key is released.

The system has user-programmable input ports that allow external devices to trigger time and emergency tones, external all call, door monitor, night transfer switch, and other system functions. User-programmable dry-contact outputs are provided to signal external devices when functions such as clock synchronization, all call, and remote annunciations occur.

The system tone generator provides 25 tones. The volume level and duration of each tone is programmable.

The MCS350 System includes off-hour door alert, a programmable alarm tone for sounding a door alarm in all or selected zones by the closure of a single switch contact.

The MCS350 System has an RS-232 port for a PC or a Dukane SmartSystem® interface that allows menu-driven programming of system information (room numbers, zones, events), storing system programming on diskette, establishing a system directory of teacher names with room numbers, adding and deleting rooms from zones, logging and storing priority system activity, and retrieving data for review and printing. An RS-485 port provides for long distance serial communications with future equipment.

The Dukane MCS350 is available in two models: a wall-mount version and floor rack version. The wall-mount version can accommodate up to four switching cards (64 remote stations), a 24Vdc power supply, and a 60-watt power amplifier. The floor rack version is an upright 19-inch (48.3 cm) rack unit that houses the Central Control Unit as well as an optional AM-FM tuner/cassette player (with or without preamp).

The 19-slot card cage in the rack model can contain up to 16 switching cards (256 remote stations). The rack also houses the 24Vdc power supply, and up to six 60-watt power amplifiers. A single power amplifier is recommended for each set of 64 remote stations.

The Multicom 2000 system can be supplied as a self-contained, wall-mounted system, or in a vertical rack-mounted configuration. The wall-mounted version can accommodate up to 120 stations in increments of 24. The rack-version can provide up to 240 stations and can include additional amplification and/or Bogen Multi-Graphic system components and available options for increased versatility.

A unique card frame design eliminates external amplification equipment for basic systems. A single microprocessor card controls overall system function. For each 24 stations, a circuit card pair provides signal routing and a 20-watt program amplifier and 12-watt intercom amplifier.

An associated relay module connects each station to the intercom or program bus. The system permits up to 8 simultaneous intercom communications with staff station loudspeakers and 8 unrestricted telephone communications, with simultaneous distribution of program material to stations not involved in a two-way conversation.

The system software supports these basic station types: Staff, consisting of loudspeaker with call-in switch; Enhanced Staff, with a DTMF dialing telephone set and optional loudspeaker; and Administrative or Enhanced Administrative, with DTMF dialing display telephone (and optional loudspeaker). Each type of station can be further organized into levels, which determine the ability to perform different system functions. Staff and Enhanced Staff stations can make emergency calls that can activate an emergency link if the call is unanswered.

System functions include 8 programmable administrative zones of paging and 8 time signaling zones. A unique modular program source interface offers a choice of three program sources (microphone, tuner, etc.). The selection of the program source and its distribution to any or all stations or zones is guided by the menu display on a designated administrative telephone. Any station equipped with a keypad dialing phone can turn program material on or off at their location.

Telephonic features include call forwarding, call transfer, and conference calling, as well as selective ability to bump or join conversations in progress. Administrative stations can also place calls on hold. A telephone interface option lets you receive and make outside calls on up to 15 incoming lines (stations can be restricted in their ability to make outgoing calls). All system control and programming is accomplished using a telephone keypad. A menu display system on the administrative telephone is provided to guide a procedure. Two special menus, protected by password, set the operating configuration. The setup menu sets the system day and time, and stores time signal events, page zone and time zone data. The initialization menu sets system features (bell duration, queue timeout, day/night start, emergency link, password select, architectural number enable, preannounce/confirmation tone enable), and station features (station number, access level, architectural number [3 to 6 digits], day/night administrator, outside line access).

About Dukane Wired Clock Systems

Dukane Communication Systems proposes a simple solution – get in sync! Dukane’s family of analog and digital clocks combined with programmable master clocks and other accessories makes keeping and controlling time easier. Dukane can provide turnkey systems including clocks and controllers to keep your facility running on the same schedule, day after day

By synchronizing the clocks within a facility, you ensure that all personnel inside have the same information. No matter the type of environment, things run more smoothly if the time is accurate and consistent.

Some applications, like elementary schools, require analog clocks. Others, like higher education, businesses, and healthcare facilities, prefer digital versions. Dukane offers both analog and digital models and Dukane has priced these clocks to be the most competitive available today.

To simplify installation, Dukane’s clock system components can use standard electrical backboxes rather than custom or proprietary versions. This means that Dukane's clocks can be installed into most existing wall openings.

With the flick of a dip switch, our analog clock can take on the personality of various other syncronous secondary clocks. All you need is our analog clock for all your replacement needs.

Clocks should be easy to find and easy to read, while fitting into their surroundings. Dukane's clocks are styled to be simple, clearly visible, and neutral to their environment. Architects and engineers will appreciate their adaptability.

Dukane offers unique scoreboard and timer capabilities when using the 24CC10 Controller with digital clocks. These can be useful when there is a need to time tests, keep score between teams, or even determine how long certain tasks take to complete.

Dukane's clock systems deliver the accuracy, choices, convenience, styling, and unique features that your facility is looking for, all at a price you can afford.

About Dukane Wireless Clock Systems

Dukane wireless clock solutions comprise a reliable master/slave cascading network that synchronizes clocks from a central on-site master controller. The master clock receives highly accurate time signals from an NTP or GPS source and relays timecodes to local slave clocks via wireless signals.

Each clock in the system is capable of receiving and transmitting the wireless signal which allows it to be used as a repeater while boosting the data stream and sending along the system. With this dual capability there is no limit to the number of clocks that can be installed throughout highrises, sprawling facilities, and small buildings alike.

Because the signal fans out and is repeated by a cascading number of devices, a single clock will typically receive its data from a number of different angles. This dramatically reduces the effect of obstructions, noise sources, or long distances on the reliability of the system. Furthermore, if an individual clock looses its signal, it will link to a nearby clock and automatically synchronize with that new source.

The cascading network also reduces system setup and installation costs, thanks to the relatively low signal strength that is necessary for it to function efficiently. This eliminates the expense and time required to obtain an FCC license.

The Dukane Model 24ZB20 and 24ZB40 Secondary Clocks provide a highly visible, even-intensity, long-life display of time in selectable formats. They can be operated in either 12- or 24-hour format, and at either Bright or Normal intensity levels. The time display on the secondary clock updates to the master clock time at one-minute intervals. These cost-effective digital clocks can be used in a wired time-keeping system or, with the addition of the optional ZigBee module 24ZBM2040, can be installed on a wireless system.

About the Compact 3200 system:

Overview

The Compact 3200 Series Administrative Communications System is a microprocessor based, single-master intercom and sound distribution controller. It is available in rackmount and console (tabletop) models. The Compact 3200 controls remote speaker stations individually, for two-way communication, page announcements, and audio program distribution; and collectively, for emergency and all call announcements in multiple-room buildings.

System operation is dictated by the function priority order listed below:
  1. Emergency paging
  2. Emergency tone distribution
  3. Time tone distribution
  4. All call
  5. Intercom
  6. Program

Higher priority functions automatically interrupt lower priority functions. Lower priority functions automatically resume when higher priority functions have ended. For example, selective intercom communication is interrupted by an all call page, which is interrupted by an emergency page

Using the built-in front panel microphone or the optional console handset, the console operator can hold a two-way conversation with any properly equipped remote station connected to the system. The front panel INTERCOM PUSH TO TALK button or the handset’s voice-activated switch controls audio direction.

The console can monitor any remote station that has two-way audio capability and is not in privacy mode. An intermittent privacy tone sounds at the remote station speaker(s) during console monitoring of that station.

One-touch emergency paging is accomplished by pressing the EMERGENCY PUSH TO TALK button, which automatically interrupts any audio program or intercom communication in progress. A tone is automatically sent to all speakers, after which an emergency announcement can be sent at a preset volume level.

All call and selective paging announcements can be sent to all or selected remote stations. These announcements can be made using the built-in front panel microphone, the optional desk microphone, or the optional console handset. All call pages can also be made using the optional remote all call microphone.

A built-in, solid-state, 15-watt amplifier module and preset incoming and outgoing speaker level controls are provided for intercom power. A power supply/power amplifier module provides DC power for the entire system. The 25-volt line output is standard, but is selectable to 45-ohm output. This module also provides power to the system’s 24Vdc external connections for associated equipment. The module has multiple circuit protection, including power supply and output amplifier fusing to protect against major failures, thermal and short circuit protection, and current limiting. Models 12A/B/C/D3200 contain a 60-watt program amplifier. Models 12A/B/C/D3212 come equipped with an external 125-watt program amplifier in place of the 60-watt amplifier.

Connections are provided for 24Vdc input from an external backup battery in case of main AC power failure.

A diagnostic routine can be initiated at any time to check system integrity. A built-in integrated monitor checks the microprocessor during operation and automatically resets it in the event of power loss or other failure.

The PROGRAM SELECTION TONE button can be used to manually send time tones to remote stations. A separate, locking EMERGENCY TONE button, when pressed, sends an emergency tone to all remote stations until the pushbutton is disengaged. The tone automatically interrupts any audio program or intercom communication in progress. Connections are also provided to trigger the emergency tone by the closure of external contacts.

The built-in tone generator provides seven distinct tones:

  1. Emergency paging.
  2. Emergency tone 3
  3. Time signaling tone 4
  4. All call paging
  5. Intercom
  6. Privacy (remote station monitoring)
  7. Door tone (external contact)

The tone volume levels are adjusted at the console.

The tabletop unit uses one, two, or three 3-position switchbanks for capacities of 25, 50, or 75 remote stations. Rack units have a capacity of up to 150 stations. All switches in a unit do not have to be used if not needed. Each switchbank is equipped with 25 three-position (INTERCOM, OFF, PROGRAM) switches. Each switch controls one speaker. On Models 12A/C3200 and 12A/C3212, the LED below each switch lights and the built-in tone generator sounds a tone when a remote station calls in.

The last two switches on the last switchbank can be configured to isolate these locations from any communication while the switches are off. The Model 438-672 Time Bus Relay Kit can be installed to automatically feed emergency and time tone signals to these stations, while still isolating them from all call and background music distribution.

A speaker with its own volume control and an LED bar-graph output level indicator are provided for monitoring audio program output. Distribution of background music or other audio program material does not interfere with simultaneous intercom use.

A color-coded control panel contains all controls and instructions on a single front panel for easy operation. LEDs indicate intercom mode and emergency mode use. A separate adjustment is provided for audio program output level. Program mode pushbuttons (ALL, SELECT) are provided for selecting individual remote stations or all remote stations to receive program material. The program selection pushbuttons are TONE, PANEL MIC, MIC1, TAPE/TUNER, AUX 1, and AUX 2.

An optional plug-in telephone interface allows paging and intercom functions to be performed from any standard pushbutton telephone connected to the interface. These functions include emergency page distribution, emergency tone distribution, time tone distribution, all call paging, selective paging (through the system operator), telephone– to–console intercom, and telephone–to–classroom intercom (through the system operator). A DTMF telephone connected to the PHONE 1 inputs can also monitor program channel audio through the telephone handset or the speaker of a speaker phone.
