About the STARCall system:
Overview
The Dukane Modular Administrative Communications System (MACS II) uses advanced microcomputer design with a user-programmable memory. The Dukane Model 12A/B2080 Central Equipment Cabinet (the “B” model has battery backup circuitry) contains the system power supply, central processor, and plug-in space for other required circuit boards. The Dukane Model 7A1100F ACS is the control center for communication, paging, and signaling functions.
From the ACS, the user can add or delete room stations assigned to a designated ACS, and if an ACS operator goes off duty, the operator can forward call coverage to another ACS. An ACS also has the ability to cancel all normal calls. The MACS II allows users to select two-, three-, four- or five-digit dialing, program the architectural room numbers, and access the zone page or all page feature. Zone page or all page can be provided to a preselected group of remote stations or to the entire facility, and remote stations can be assigned to more than one zone.
The ACS is equipped with a handset, dial pad, speaker, microphone, and a TALK1 LISTEN button to provide voice intercom. Each ACS is equipped with an internal 16-watt intercom amplifier that allows the MACS II system to provide true multiple, simultaneous, unrestricted, amplified voice channels; thus, no automatic queue is required.
A one line Time/Current Call display window indicates the assigned number of the first call waiting and, when answered, the call in progress. When no calls are in the system (standby position), it displays the time of day in 12- or 24-hour format. A three-line Calls Waiting display indicates calls waiting to be answered in time placement sequence and by call-in priority status. An indicator illuminates to show the operator that additional calls beyond the three displayed are waiting, and a scan feature allows these calls to be reviewed in groups of three. The ACS uses sealed membrane, tactile buttons for functional control and user programming.
Pressing the Talk/Listen button answers the first waiting call. Subsequently pressing and releasing the button controls the direction of the communication path. The handset, when lifted from the cradle, automatically answers the waiting call. Built-in voice operated switching eliminates the need to use the Talk/Listen button when in this mode. Placing the handset back in the cradle automatically cancels the call. A Set Time Event button allows the time signal for each zone to be manually sounded. The master clock allows 255 discrete time event entries, selection of any one or combination of eight zones to be activated, and selection of one or any combination of eight schedules. An editing routine provided in the system allows the user to change and edit the time events, zones, and schedules without reprogramming the entire sequence. The master clock has battery backup in case of power failure.
